James Madison University - Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, Professor and Curator, gave a talk about the Phil Cosminsky and Fred Keidel micromount collections. Attendees also toured the new JMU Mineral Museum.

49th Atlantic Micromounters' Conference:  June 3, 2023   JMU

Thanks to Michael Pabst, our conference was held at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA on June 3. Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, Professor and Curator, gave a presentation about the history of the university mineral museum and historical micromineral collections, including Phil Cosminsky and Fred Keidel. In the afternoon we visited the stunning James Madison Museum Mineral Museum. Attendees also traded microminerals. Students in attendance were given a demonstration on mounting microminerals by John Ferrante.

For a preview of the JMU museum, look at the article in the Mineralogical Record, volume 51, page 703, September-October, 2020.  There are also some photos and information on the JMU website: https://www.jmu.edu/mineralmuseum/index.shtml.
